Announcing The 2023 WIA World Summit Art And Theme
We’re thrilled to announce and share our 2023 WIA World Summit art created by the talented Sandra Equihua, and our theme, Break the Box: Redefining Gender and Leadership.
Sandra is an Emmy Award-winning artist born in Tijuana, Mexico. She and her husband, Jorge Gutierrez — the artist behind this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival MIFA art — co-created El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera and the film The Book of Life. She most recently worked on Netflix’s multiple Emmy Award-winning animated series, Maya and the Three, among other projects.
We’d also like to unveil the theme for our seventh annual WIA World Summit — Break the Box. During our day-long summit, we will address the restrictions of gender and what happens when people step out of the expectations and the norms of their gender roles.

2022 WIA WORLD SUMMIT:
The 2022 WIA World Summit at Annecy Film Festival focused on addressing the issue of “Gender Justice: A Global Call for Inclusion in Animation.”
WIA held a day-long discussion panels on Gender Justice and how it can be one solution to the animation industry workforce shortage.
Gender Justice is a system of equity and fairness for people of all genders, including men, women, transgender, and nonbinary individuals.
