About Carlos Saldanha

Carlos Saldanha graduated from New York’s School of Visual Arts in 1993 to become one of the principal creative forces at Blue Sky Studios. He teamed with Chris Wedge to co-direct Blue Sky’s first animated features, the Oscar-nominated ICE AGE (2002) and ROBOTS (2005). He also directed the Oscar-nominated animated short Gone Nutty. Saldanha took the directorial reins on both ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN (2006) and ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS (2009), which are among the biggest grossing animated films of all time. In 2011 Saldanha created and directed RIO, a love letter to his hometown, and RIO 2 in 2013. His latest film FERDINAND (2017) was nominated for an Academy Award®.
