In Breaking Into Animation Production with Sarah Cortina, you will learn the essentials of what it takes to get started in this part of the industry. By the end of the term, you will:
- Understand the Animation Production Pipeline—the different job positions in this career, how you move through them, and what it takes to get the job done.
- Know how to set yourself up to apply for and land jobs by creating strong resumes, cover letters, thank you letters, portfolios, etc. You’ll also have a clear picture of how recruiting works and what the job application process is like.
- Learn how to show up professionally so that recruiters and bosses take notice of you.
Develop tools for managing the stresses and anxieties that come along with making the leap into the industry.
- Learn about what it’s like working on the vendor side of the industry, particularly at studios across the APAC region.

Sarah Cortina followed a non-traditional path to the animation industry. She began as amtranslator/interpreter at a CG animation studio in Japan, before making the jump into Production work. As a Line Producer at a vendor studio, Sarah has worked with clients like Disney/Lucasfilm, Hasbro, and Netflix, managing productions spread across Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and India. She moved back to the US in 2019, and now works at Netflix as an Associate Manager for adult genre series. Recent credits include Lost in Oz, Star Wars: Resistance, and FreakAngels. In her spare time, Sarah is an avid archer.
