The animation field is wide and varied with many different types of projects to bring to life: Stop motion, CG, live action, commercials, short films, series, features… and someone has to be the producer bringing it all together. Why not you!
This circle will focus on the paths toward being a producer. We’ll discuss things like:

- The difference between the various animation styles and formats.
- How to find your fit in the industry.
- The best way to build skills that let you move easily between projects.
- How to set yourself up for success.

Julie Lockhart
Julie Lockhart is the Co-Founder and President of Production of Locksmith Animation. One of the film industry’s most experienced animation producers, her work has received three Academy Award© nominations including Best Animated Film in 2013 and 2015. Before co-founding Locksmith, she held leadership roles at Aardman Animations and was producer on many of that studio’s acclaimed animated shorts, commercials and ground-breaking television series, including the Rose D’Or winning ‘Creature Comforts’ and the Emmy and BAFTA award winning ‘Shaun the Sheep’ series.
Stepping into features, she developed and produced the Academy Award®-nominated feature films ‘The Pirates! A Band of Misfits’ (UK title ‘In an Adventure with Scientists’) for Sony Pictures and ‘Shaun The Sheep Movie’ for Studio Canal/Lionsgate.
Whilst at Locksmith, she has been instrumental in building a brand new studio from scratch into the international high end animation feature film company it is today, whilst also producing Locksmith’s debut feature film Ron’s Gone Wrong.
