Fumi Kitahara

Fumi Kitahara was a premier publicist and passionate advocate for gender equity, as well as a beloved friend and colleague. Fumi passed away on February 24, 2025, at age 56, after a long battle with a rare blood cancer.

As WIA’s PR Chair for over 10 years, Fumi volunteered countless hours of her time toward advancing WIA’s mission. Her 30+ years of industry expertise and dedication played a pivotal role in elevating WIA to the global stage.

In her honor, WIA is establishing the Fumi Kitahara Membership and Scholarship Fund to support future generations in animation. 

Fumi’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and advocacy will never be forgotten.
