WHAT NOT TO EXPECT
- Advice or instruction on boarding, directing, writing, or animating
- Detailed advice on character design (my specialty is in prop, BG, and color)
- Extensive networking/personal contact information. I plan on having a guest speaker or 2, and am happy to provide pertinent resources as situations calling for them. I cannot guarantee a job nor provide personal information of industry connections at a whim.
CIRCLE DESCRIPTION
Are you a Background, Prop, or Color Designer looking to get your first job in the animation industry? Or maybe you have some internship or short gig experience, but you’re looking to transition into a full-time position. Then this circle might be right for you.
In this circle, we’ll cover the fundamentals of setting yourself up to get a job as a designer in the animation industry.
We’ll cover:

- Networking
- Professional Etiquette and Expectations
This circle will be a great resource as you start to navigate this career journey. It will be a place to learn about how the industry works and to help you identify and plan for your next steps. We’ll discuss and boost any skills you need to make that final push to get your foot in the door. This circle’s chief priority is in giving a helpful guide to those who have just started their venture into the industry or are on the cusp of breaking in.

Jenny Cho is currently working as a color designer on Hamster and Gretel at Disney TV Animation. She got her design career started in Theme Park and Experience Design doing concept imagery and illustrations. Now, she’s been working in the television animation industry for roughly 7 years, juggling different positions ranging from storybooks for focus testing, background design, and prop design. When she’s not working on various professional projects, she likes to exercise her creativity with nerdy hobbies like crafting and model making.
