CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

No matter where you are in your career, you’ll constantly encounter change. Your management will change, your colleagues will change, and most certainly, the tools that you use to create will change (concerned about AI, anyone??). This can feel scary and uncertain, but since you know that change is coming, you can get ready! Being prepared to meet change head-on will help you make stronger decisions that give you the most options and can help reduce stress when life feels uncertain. This circle will help you prepare for the inevitable changes in your career in the animation industry.

This circle is a great fit for you if you are a designer or artist with a few years of experience who wants to make sure you’re on solid footing for future changes.

We will discuss how to:

  • Take action even when you’re nervous
  • Manage fears around the unknown
  • Embrace change
  • Think about change if you’re on a path to leadership
  • Recognize when change is on the horizon
  • Manage stress and find options during times of uncertainty
  • Understand how your reaction to change can help you get a job/keep a job/find a new job

Steve Goldberg

STEVE GOLDBERG (Visual Effects Supervisor) is a computer animation veteran who has been with Walt Disney Animation Studios for over 30 years. Goldberg began his professional career with Disney in 1990 as the CG supervisor on the acclaimed animated feature film Aladdin and has since made essential contributions integrating computer animation at the studio.

Born in Los Angeles, Goldberg studied sculpture, graphic design and computer science at California State University Northridge before launching his career at Robert Abel and Associates and Pacific Data Images. While at Pacific Data Images, Goldberg produced and directed the award-winning short Locomotion, considered one of the earliest examples of computer character animation.

From 1992-2000, Goldberg supervised computer animation for Disney on various animated feature films, including Pocahontas and Fantasia 2000. He also lent his talents to The Lion King and Tarzan as a computer graphics artist.

Goldberg served as the Visual Effects Supervisor on the Walt Disney Animation Studios films Chicken Little, Meet The Robinsons, Tangled, Frozen, Frozen 2, and most recently Strange World.

He met his wife Dana while working together on Aladdin and they have two children.
