WIA WORLD SUMMIT 2024
We’re thrilled to announce our 2024 WIA World Summit art created by the talented Maria Melo and our theme, “Stronger Together: The Equitable Future of Animation.”
This year’s World Summit promises deep dives into industry innovations and the transformative power of community. The event will feature captivating sessions — including “The Creative Impact of the Technology Revolution” and “Fostering Community in the Animation Industry.”
These discussions and insights will take place against the backdrop of this year’s stunning World Summit art, created by Portuguese visual artist Maria Melo. Melo is a visual development artist, illustrator, and a certified yoga teacher. She is passionate about art, film, and storytelling because of how these mediums, according to Melo, can change the way we see ourselves and how we connect with others.

WIA returns to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Monday, June 10, 2024, for our 8th World Summit. The annual day-long symposium will bring together executives, filmmakers, and creatives from across the globe to tackle the pressing issues facing underrepresented gender identities in animation, art, technology, production, and business.
ABOUT THE WIA WORLD SUMMIT
Launched in 2017, the WIA World Summit has brought together industry leaders, trailblazers, and changemakers to tackle critical subjects including creating an environment of belonging, unconscious bias, gender justice, and intersectional diversity on a global stage.

2023 WIA WORLD SUMMIT:
In 2023, WIA joined forces with GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ+ media advocacy organization, to bring the WIA World Summit to the Annecy International Animation Festival and Mifa 2023.

Over the course of its 60 years, the Annecy Festival has established itself as a global event dedicated to animation, bringing together the most esteemed professionals from the sector to celebrate animation’s creative and diverse styles and techniques.
