CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

In this circle, I will be guiding you through an 8-12-second animated shot over the following weeks until you come out with the best demo reel piece possible! Finally, you have the opportunity to polish a piece of animation till you drop. So satisfying!

We will be going over broader concepts to help improve your scene setup, staging, acting choices, body mechanics, and scene rhythm, while also working on more technical aspects of animation like effective inbetweening, how to get the most out of reference, best lip syncing practices, and how to get a polished look out of your piece with cleanup. I will occasionally bring in guest speakers and animators to give a fresh pair of eyes to your work.

You can work in whatever software you are most comfortable with (2D, 2.5D, or 3D—it doesn’t matter! It’s about acting). You must be able to work on your shot on your own time. I will provide you with character sheets, a scenario, and an environment so you can be solely focused on the animation.

  • A personal statement explaining why you’d like to be in this circle.
