CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

Do you want to break into the industry but have no idea where to start? Trying to get that first job as a junior artist, or bridge the gap between school/training and the professional world? Do you dream of helping create new classic films or beloved TV series? Are you looking forward to seeing your name in the credits one day? Then this circle is for you!

In this circle, you will learn the essentials of what it takes to get started in this part of the industry. By the end of the term, you will:

  • Understand the Animation Pipeline—the different job positions in this career, how you move through them, and what it takes to get the job done
  • Know how to set yourself up to apply for and land jobs by creating strong resumes, cover letters, thank you letters, portfolios, etc.
  • You’ll have a clear picture of how recruiting works and what the job application process is like
  • Learn how to show up professionally so that recruiters and bosses take notice of you.
  • Develop tools for managing the stresses and anxieties that come along with making the leap into the industry

Circle Leader

Pramita Mukherjee

Pramita’s background includes working, mentoring, and supervising in CG animation for almost 15 years across various departments. She worked as a character TD for 6 years and moved to CFX for the past 8 years. Pramita understands scripting and can develop various tools for setups and pipeline workflows, as well as troubleshooting tech issues across multiple departments.

Well-experienced in leading, delivering shows, and managing large-scale teams, collaborating and working with clients, VFX Supervisors, and animation directors, Pramita loves lending her expertise to WIA mentees!
