CIRCLE DESCRIPTION
Do you want to break into the industry but have no idea where to start? Trying to get that first job as a junior artist, or bridge the gap between school/training and the professional world? Do you dream of helping create new classic films or beloved TV series? Are you looking forward to seeing your name in the credits one day? Then this circle is for you!
In this circle, you will learn the essentials of what it takes to get started in this part of the industry. By the end of the term, you will:
- Understand the Animation Pipeline—the different job positions in this career, how you move through them, and what it takes to get the job done
- Know how to set yourself up to apply for and land jobs by creating strong resumes, cover letters, thank you letters, portfolios, etc.
- You’ll have a clear picture of how recruiting works and what the job application process is like
- Learn how to show up professionally so that recruiters and bosses take notice of you.
- Develop tools for managing the stresses and anxieties that come along with making the leap into the industry.

Pramita Mukherjee
Pramita Mukherjee, the lead course facilitator for WIA, is an animation professional with 18 years of experience, currently at Dreamworks Animation as a Character Effects Animation Developer. She started her journey as a Rigging artist in 2007 from Mumbai and after working and leading in various features, TV shows and music videos, over a decade in India, she stepped out to London followed by Los Angeles, leading globally in different Animation and VFX projects. Kungfu Panda 4, Puss In Boots(the last wish), Croods 2, Boss Baby, Penguins Of Madagascar, Wonder Woman, Venom, Fantastic Beast, are a few of the many projects she has worked on.
Pramita is an active volunteer for WIA and has mentored around 90 women across the world. She is also a Visual Effects Society (VES) member and part of the VES Award Committee. Recently, she joined the Board of Directors for AIA (Asians In Animation).Â
