CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

Are you a CG artist who needs to regularly present shots and work to supervisors, directors, or VFX supes and feel less than perfectly confident doing so? Are you looking to hone or refine your presentation skills? Do you wonder if you might get better shots and new opportunities if you could present your work with more confidence? Then this circle might be for you!

A great presentation can make a difference in how your work is perceived. Presenting well might even result in fewer notes and revisions. So let’s dive in and help you build your skills to show off your work!

In this circle, you will learn the essentials of effectively presenting your work and building confidence in your presentations. By the end of the term, you will:

  • Understand how best to engage with Directors and VFX Supervisors to ensure your work is understood and appreciated
  • Build confidence to not only show your work but also tell the story behind it – you’ll learn how to hold on to your opinions, share them clearly, and make room for feedback
  • See live presentations to better understand presentation best practices
  • Present your own work and receive feedback (mentees should have work they are prepared to present to the circle – these can be finished pieces or works in progress)
  • Meet guest speakers to gain further insights
  • Find the balance between being emotionally attached to your work and understanding that this is a collaborative field where other opinions can help improve your work
  • Learn how to manage production needs and schedules while maintaining your big vision for your work or shots
  • Develop resilience to handle mistakes and setbacks
  • Discover and hone your unique voice in the room – this circle will help you try, make mistakes, and continuously improve how you present yourself
