CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

Have you invested in the animation career path, only to feel the industry crumbling around you? Currently, it’s creating massive amounts of anxiety and hardship. It’s time to learn how to identify your skills, articulate them, demonstrate them, and learn how to stay employed and grow them in hard times.

We can be our own worst enemy when we get stuck, and sometimes it requires re-framing our thinking. As a group, we will discuss who we are and start our meetings with warm-up exercises that help you identify what makes you an asset.

This Mentor Circle is designed to learn how to recognize your skill set and rebrand YOU.

ADDITIONAL Application Requirements

Please submit the following as part of your Application Profile:

  • Personal Statement – I would love to get to know your journey, how you came to WIA and what your career path has been. If you feel comfortable sharing if you are currently looking for work, and what you hope to learn from this circle
  • Feel free to add a resume/CV or just a brief description of your career path

Circle Leader

Sarah Serata

I started my career in animation 20+ years ago, working my way up from a PA in live-action to a Coordinator on Coraline, to a producer, and currently an executive at Spin Master Entertainment.

Mentoring and coaching bring me joy and satisfaction in ways that work cannot. They allow me to share my experience with people who are looking for insights into the industry and guidance. I want to help you on your journey, identify your skill sets and secret strengths, and learn what your trajectory could be.

Our industry is currently in a rough place due to factors such as strikes, COVID-19, and studios’ desire to reduce budgets and sort out the kind of programming they want to achieve. You may have struggled looking for work over the last few months or even a year. I want to help you learn how to recognize your skills and use them to pivot and grow.
