CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

Welcome to the Short Project Support Group, where we will help you FINISH THAT PROJECT! This is a mentorship circle designed for creatives who aspire to bring their short-term projects to fruition. Whether you’re a writer, director, artist, or designer, this group is tailored to support, inspire, and guide you through the completion of your projects.

This course is ideal for creatives with a few years of professional experience working on short-term projects who need a structured, supportive environment to bring their visions to life. Whether you’re just starting, stuck in a creative rut, or looking to polish and present your work, the Short Project Support Group is here to help you succeed.

Some of what we’ll cover include:

  • Organizing your time
  • Setting realistic goals
  • Creating realistic deadlines to help manage and achieve tasks that keep your project on track without overwhelming you.
  • Accountability in the form of regular meetings that will help keep you on track as you work toward your goals.
  • Moral Support to keep that dreaded “Creative Rut” at a minimum
  • Professional Guidance to support you with personalized advice and insights to guide you through challenges, helping you to refine your vision and overcome obstacles.
  • Inspirational Sessions where you’ll meet guest speakers and industry professionals to provide practical tips on various aspects of creative work.
  • Tips and guidelines if you are interested in entering your project in Film Festivals
  • A weekly reminder that you can do this. You are not alone. And there are resources that can help you get over the finish line!

Circle Leader

Carolyn gair

Originally from Canada, Carolyn Gair is an award-winning filmmaker and owner of Bowling4Rhinos Productions in Los Angeles. She is a prolific and accomplished director, writer, and story artist, working with all the major studios, from Disney and Pixar to Paramount and Warner Bros. She is an Emmy Award winner and Annie Nominee. Her stop-motion films have won awards in festivals worldwide, including Best Animation, Best Children’s Short, Audience Favorite Award, and most recently, Honorable Mention at the Los Angeles Animation Festival, 2023.

Carolyn graduated from Sheridan College, Ontario, with a degree in animation before her career took her to Los Angeles in the early ’90s, working for Warner Bros Studios as a story artist on Tiny Toons, Tasmania, Freakazoid, as well as The Animaniacs, for which she won an Emmy Award. She worked at Nickelodeon on Angry Beavers and Kim Possible for Walt Disney before ending up in feature animation on such projects as Tinkerbell, Rock Dog, Rumble, Free Birds, Hop, Despicable Me, and Angry Birds 2 before returning to WB to direct the feature film Scooby Doo and the Haunted Highrise.

Carolyn started experimenting with stop-motion in 2014 for Instagram and fell in love with the creative freedom. She started her stop-motion studio in 2018 with an eye to making longer content, eventually completing her full-length animated feature RETURN TO KELLOGG, and continues to work in stop-motion creating animated shorts, as well as commercial spots for Trader Joe’s.

As a veteran of the industry, Carolyn looks forward to giving back, providing guidance, and sharing knowledge with those who are new to the field.
