CIRCLE DESCRIPTION
Do you want to take your painting skills and work as a professional artist in television? Maybe your dream is to help bring beloved characters and fantastical worlds to life. Looking forward to joining an art department to make memorable shows? Then this circle is for you.
In Breaking into 2D Painting for TV you will learn the essentials of what it takes to get started in this part of the industry.
By the end of the term, you will:
- Understand how the Art Department works as a whole: the roles and jobs and how they work together
- Learn about the Production Pipeline – how these jobs fit into the overall production process and the path one might take from the first gig to full-time artist
- Know how to set yourself up to apply for and land jobs by creating strong resumes, cover letters, thank you letters, portfolios, etc.
- You’ll also have a clear picture of how recruiting works and what the job application process is like
- Improve your portfolio organization
- Grow your painting skills needed for a 2D TV animation role
- Learn how to show up professionally so that recruiters and bosses take notice of you
- Develop tools for managing the stresses and anxieties that come along with making the leap into the industry
