CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

Are you a creative person looking to build a career in the animation industry, but you worry that you don’t have the exact right experience? Do you think there’s only one path toward success, and you worry that you’re not on it? Maybe you have a variety of interests when it comes to the animation industry and you aren’t sure that a traditional path is the right one for you. Then, this circle might be a great place to learn more about your journey.

The truth is there are many ways to navigate this industry and more people than you might think take a “non-traditional” path through it. I personally have been inspired by all the varied ways people have found their foothold in animation. One colleague of mine started out as a theater major, became a coordinator on a preschool program, started writing and directing, and is now a content executive. If that kind of variety, excitement, and adventure sounds right to you, then come join us! During this circle, we’ll hear from many professionals who forged their own way ahead. You’ll be able to learn what worked for them and get support in applying those ideas to your own path. By the end of this circle, mentees will gain a comprehensive understanding of all the many ways one can build a career in this dynamic field.

In addition to personal stories, mentees will learn about the different types of jobs available in the animation industry and how their existing skills can be applied to new and exciting roles. This knowledge will empower mentees to identify where their unique talents and interests can best be utilized, and to see how they can pivot or advance their careers in new directions.
