We hope you’re as excited as we are about the upcoming launch of our updated and streamlined WIA membership portal.  Today we want to outline our expanded, donation-based membership levels adjusted based on cost-of-living across the globe.

As an advocacy nonprofit, we rely on your support to do our work. It’s through your generous donations that we are able to offer a variety of tools and resources that actively tear down the barriers faced by creatives of underrepresented gender identities within the industry.

To access these events and so much more, make sure to update your membership once the new portal and membership model launch in the coming weeks. But don’t worry, WIA will reach out to you when it’s time to take action.

What is a donation-based membership? How is it different from my membership now? 
In many ways, the donation-based membership will feel similar to the current fee-based membership but instead of buying a membership like you’d buy a loaf of bread, you make a donation to WIA at the level that feels right for you — or even become a member just by signing a pledge of support. Your donations help WIA pay for the tools and resources that move our mission forward. In gratitude for your support, you will receive various benefits, outlined below.

What does it mean that donation levels are adjusted based on the global cost of living?
As a mission-driven organization, WIA is committed to making our services equitable to our members across the world. When you make a donation to WIA, you’ll see your country’s currency listed; you may also see that the donation level benefits have been adjusted to better reflect the cost of living in your country.* Making this shift ensures that more people can access WIA’s programs and services, regardless of geography and economic position.

What are the yearly donation levels? 
The levels below reflect US-based members and will adjust based on your geographic location.

• Supporter (Free) | Sign a pledge to support our mission

  • Receive the weekly Digest with access to the WIA job board

  • Access to the WIA Discord

  • Access to select WIA Professional Growth Program events

• Maker (Donation of $25-$49.99) | Everything in the Supporter level plus

  • Ability to apply for WIA Scholarship

  • Access to the monthly WIA Book Club

  • Expanded access to WIA Professional Growth Program events

• Creator (Donation of $50-$99.99**) | Everything in Supporter and Maker levels plus

  • Ability to apply for the WIA Mentorship Circles Program

  • Full access to WIA Professional Growth Program events

  • Eligible to be used as a tax-deductible donation for all gifts over $50.00

• Innovator (Donation of$100-$249.99**) | Everything in the previous levels plus

  • Recognition in our end-of-month Digest

  • Eligible to be used as a tax-deductible donation for all gifts over $50.00

• Trailblazer (Donation of $250+**) | Everything in the previous levels plus

  • Recognition on the WIA virtual donation wall

  • Eligible to be used as a tax-deductible donation for all gifts over $50.00

What if I’m already a member and/or my company or school has WIA memberships and that’s how I registered? Does this apply to me?
Your current membership and associated benefits will be valid until one year after you originally signed up; when it comes time to renew your membership, you’ll move into the donation-based version.

Our new donation-based membership model allows our community members to support WIA and our work in the way that works and feels best for them.
